Have Your Say on Fareham’s Domestic Abuse Policy

Last Updated: July 19, 2025By Tags:

Fareham Borough Council is inviting residents to share their views on a new Domestic Abuse Policy, designed to clearly outline how the Council addresses domestic abuse and where individuals can access help and support.

This draft policy reinforces the Council’s commitment to working in partnership with local agencies and organisations to provide appropriate action, advice, and resources to those affected. It applies to anyone in Fareham who is experiencing, has experienced, or is at risk of experiencing domestic abuse—regardless of housing situation, including those who are homeless or facing homelessness.

To ensure the policy is as clear and effective as possible, the Council has launched a public consultation, open until 29 August 2025. Residents are encouraged to read the policy and complete a short online survey to share their feedback:

Cllr Joanne Burton, Executive Member for Health and Public Protection, said: “The safety of our residents is a top priority at Fareham Borough Council. We recognise that all forms of domestic abuse are unacceptable, and we treat every report with the utmost seriousness. Through this policy, we aim to reduce the risk of domestic abuse and ensure residents feel safe and supported.

I strongly encourage everyone in our community to review the policy and help us ensure it’s clear, compassionate, and easy to navigate for anyone seeking help.”
