Fareham Borough Council has awarded the 4th Portchester Rainbows £2,000 from its Community Fund towards the purchase of a silent disco starter set.

4th Portchester Rainbows is a local Guides group. Following a positive experience of hiring a silent disco unit for an event, it has applied for funding to purchase one of its own. The equipment would be used within the local Guides groups for fundraising, and could also be hired out for a small charge within the Fareham and Titchfield divisions, Scout groups and schools in the local area.

The total cost of this project is £2,233.97. 4th Portchester Rainbows have been awarded £2,000 from the Community Fund, with the remaining amount being funded by the organisation.

Executive Member for Leisure and Community at Fareham Borough Council, Cllr Connie Hockley, said: “I am delighted to award the 4th Portchester Rainbows this community funding. These solent discos are not only great fun, but can help provide fundraising for Guide and Scout groups in the area, which thousands of children attend, as well as local schools and other not-for-profit organisations which benefit the youth of Fareham.”
