Gosport Borough Council is inviting residents and customers across the community to cast their vote for Gosport’s favourite independent business. If you value Gosport’s independent shops and services, your vote is a powerful way to celebrate the businesses that make our town unique and help shine a spotlight on the independents that deserve recognition.

Speaking about the awards, Leader of Gosport Borough Council, Peter Chegwyn, says: “This is a chance for the community of Gosport to show their support for the town’s vibrant independent business sector. By voting for their favourite local independent business, which plays such a vital role in Gosport’s economy and character, bringing originality, resilience and a personal touch to our community, residents can help recognise the passion and hard work that goes into keeping these businesses thriving.”

For the purpose of this campaign, an independent business is defined as a small business that is not part of a larger corporation or chain, employs fewer than 50 people, and has a turnover of under £10 million.

What’s in it for the winners?

The ten most‑voted‑for businesses will receive a package of recognition and celebration, including:

• An invitation to a free celebration event with the Mayor of Gosport on 5^th February from 6pm to 8pm
• Inclusion in an official council press release, distributed widely both digitally and in print
• Features across multiple platforms, including the Discover Gosport website, Coastline magazine, the Business Bulletin, and GBC social media channels
• A special prize for the overall top‑voted business: a free professional promotional video created by award sponsor, 22Midnight, which will be shared across GBC and partner digital channels

Voting closes at 5pm on 23rd January 2026, and residents are encouraged to vote early, share widely, and help celebrate the independent businesses that contribute so much to the community.
