Hampshire police received a report that in the early hours of Saturday 28 June, a woman aged in her 30’s had been raped at an address on Greetham Street in Portsmouth.
Waleed Alharbi of Greetham Street in Portsmouth denied the offences, but was found guilty of rape and attempted rape by a jury following a seven-day trial at Winchester Crown Court, which concluded today, Tuesday 2 December.
The court heard how Alharbi, who is of Saudi Arabian nationality and was a university student at the time of the offence, met the woman at The Astoria nightclub on Guildhall Walk, before bringing her back to his address and raping her.
He is due to appear again at the same court for sentencing on Tuesday 9 December.
