Police are investigating a sexual assault in Shirley and have arrested a man.

The incident happened at around 8.30pm on 22 August, when a woman in her 20s reported a man had made sexual comments to her and touched her breasts inside Tesco Express on Shirley Road.

The man was described as:

– mixed race

– 5ft 9ins tall

– average build

– blue coat, cream trousers, sliders, no socks

– short beard which is grey and black

– very short curly grey hair

– had a cut or sore next to his left nostril

A 44-year-old man from Southampton has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault as part of this investigation.

He has been bailed until 29 December while further enquiries are carried out.
