Devizes man sentenced to more than two years in prison for drug offences
A 20-year-old man from Devizes has been sentenced to two years and three month in prison for drug offences.
Michael Hampton, of Bath Road, appeared at Salisbury Crown Court on December 1 after pleading guilty to possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, possession of Class B drugs, and possession of criminal property.
Wiltshire Police launched an investigation on September 18 following reports of discarded nitrous oxide canisters outside a Bath Road property and information suggesting drug dealing. During a search, officers recovered three mobile phones, 15g of cocaine, 12.74g of cannabis, and more than £4,000 in cash.
Inspector Simon Garrett said: “This sentence holds Hampton to account for his actions. Drug dealing has a big impact on local communities, leading to increased crime, litter, and anti-social behaviour.
“We also know that children and young people are exploited by criminals running supply lines, and Hampton was no different, seeking out vulnerable people to line his pockets.
“Our message is clear: there is no place for drugs in Devizes or Wiltshire.”
