Fareham Borough Council Launches Consultation on Tenancy Strategy
Fareham Borough Council is inviting residents and social housing providers to share their views on its draft Tenancy Strategy, which sets out the Council’s approach to managing tenancies and supporting households across the Borough.
Under the Localism Act 2013, all local authorities must publish a Tenancy Strategy outlining key principles for registered providers of social housing. Fareham’s draft strategy focuses on four priorities:
- Offering secure (lifetime) tenancies as the preferred option
- Making the most effective use of affordable and social housing
- Minimising and preventing homelessness
- Providing support to help households sustain their tenancy
The Council is seeking feedback to ensure the strategy is clear, accessible, and meets the needs of tenants and providers. The consultation is open from 20 January to 30 March. Residents are invited to share feedback on the strategy document by completing a short survey: https://online1.snapsurveys.com/clvz7j
Paper copies are available during opening hours at the Fareham Borough Council Civic Offices.
Executive Member for Housing, Cllr Fred Birkett, said: “This strategy is about giving clarity and confidence to our tenants and partners. We want to make sure our approach reflects the needs of our community and helps prevent homelessness while making the best use of our housing stock. Your feedback is vital in shaping a fair and effective tenancy framework for Fareham.”
