Fareham Borough Council is pleased to announce that it has installed two new air quality monitoring stations at strategic locations in the Borough.

In September 2025, The Council adopted its new Air Quality Strategy 2025-2030. During the consultation process for this strategy, some residents shared concerns about particulate matter, including the finer PM2.5 particles that can be more harmful to health.

The Council took these concerns seriously as, at that time, it did not have a way to monitor these pollutants. The two new air quality monitoring stations are capable of measuring particulate matter, including PM2.5, and will support targeted campaigns to help the Council better understand air quality across the Borough.

One unit is currently installed in the town centre, and one at Daedalus Airfield. The monitoring stations can be moved to other locations around the Borough to help build a picture of particulates in different areas.

As such, the Council is seeking feedback from residents on other locations that may benefit from focused monitoring, for example, near a busy school or other areas of concern. If you would like to make a suggestion, please email xxx or call xxx.
