To take part in these elections, residents must be registered by midnight, Monday 20 April 2026.
Eligible residents wishing to vote in these elections must be on the electoral register.
Registering only takes a few minutes and can be completed online. Those who have recently moved, changed their name or address, or are unsure whether their details are up to date are also encouraged to check their registration status as soon as possible.
The elections on Thursday 7 May will be the first for the new West Surrey Council, giving residents the opportunity to shape how local services are run and how decisions affecting their communities are made.
Adesuwa Omoregie, Woking Borough Council’s Deputy Returning Officer, said: “Registering to vote is the simplest and most important step you can take to ensure your voice is heard on Thursday 7 May.
“Even if you think you’re already registered, it’s worth taking a moment to check, especially if you’ve moved recently. It only takes a few minutes, and it means you won’t miss out on having your say in these important elections.”
