Murder investigation launched – Milton Keynes
Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Unit has launched a murder investigation following a death in Milton Keynes.
Yesterday (24/5), around 6pm, officers attended a property in East Moor Drive in Wolverton Mill following reports made to us around a concern for welfare.
Officers attended and found a woman in her fifties, sadly deceased in the property.
The woman’s next of kin have been informed, however formal identification and post-mortem processes are yet to take place.
The family are being supported by specially trained officers and have asked for privacy at this extremely difficult time. We would urge everyone to respect their wishes.
There is a scene watch set up around the property on East Moor Drive, and you are likely to see officers in the area while our investigation continues.
A 58-year-old man from Milton Keynes, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.
Senior investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Sally Spencer, of the Major Crime Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who has sadly died.
“We know this incident will cause concern locally, however, we do not believe there is any ongoing risk to the wider community.
“This is a complex investigation that is still in its early stages, and we are actively pursuing a number of enquiries to understand exactly what has happened.
“There will continue to be a visible police presence in the area, and we encourage anyone with concerns to speak with officers at the scene.
“We would also urge people not to share speculation, particularly on social media, as we work to establish the facts surrounding this incident.”
We would ask anyone with information around the incident to please contact 101 quoting reference 43260258168.
