First winners revealed in Wiltshire Community Lottery
The first-ever Wiltshire Community Lottery draw took place on Saturday 6 June 2026, with 33 winners celebrating prizes, including one lucky Trowbridge resident who scooped £250!
More than 150 local good causes have already joined the Wiltshire Community Lottery, which offers clubs, charities and community groups a simple and effective way to raise money through a weekly online draw.
Early projections suggest the scheme could generate an extra £63,000 this year for the organisations that have registered to take part so far.
Lottery tickets are on sale now for the next draw on Saturday 13 June. Tickets £1 each and players can choose exactly which local cause they want their money to support.
Wiltshire Council launched the new community lottery to help local organisations secure vital funding and continue the valuable work they do supporting communities across the county. A wide range of organisations have already signed up including grassroots sports teams, village hall committees, lunch clubs, advice groups, youth clubs and Men’s Sheds.
Cllr Mel Jacob, Wiltshire Council Cabinet Member for Communities, said “We are delighted with the response to this fund raising initiative from local good causes and members of the public who have already bought more than 2,000 tickets so far.
“Many local groups and organisations that support Wiltshire residents have been eager to get involved and start raising vital funds. The message was loud and clear from a sector survey carried out by Wessex Community Action in 2025 – Wiltshire’s voluntary sector urgently need for more unrestricted, core funding.
“We have listened to them and launched this lottery in response to their need for more financial support. This lottery will help them thrive and grow and continue the valuable work they do in our local communities.
“I’d urge more clubs, charities and community groups to get involved as even though the first draw has taken place, you can register at any point. It’s a simple and quick process to register and then good causes can rally their supporters and start raising money straight away. If you’re unsure if you qualify just got to the website and register and we’ll advise you.”
For every £1 ticket bought, 50p goes directly to the player’s chosen good cause, with a further 10p to the central fund, which the council will redirect into local good causes. People can buy up to 20 tickets per week for a chance to win prizes of up to £25,000.
Tickets can be purchased via the Wiltshire Community Lottery website at www.wiltshirecommunitylottery.co.uk. or by phoning 03000 168 861.
Local clubs, groups, charities and organisations interested in raising money through the lottery can find out more about the eligibility criteria and register by visiting the Wiltshire Community Lottery website at www.wiltshirecommunitylottery.co.uk.
The council has partnered with Gatherwell, a licensed and regulated External Lottery Manager which already delivers community lotteries across more than 150 council areas nationwide. Local good causes can sign up to be part of the Wiltshire Community Lottery now in order to start their journey raising money.
