Gosport will mark the start of Armed Forces Week with a ceremonial flag-raising in Falkland Gardens on Monday 22 June 2026.

The event, led by the Mayor of Gosport Councillor Kirsten Bradley, will honour the dedication and service of the UK Armed Forces and recognise their strong links with the borough.

The ceremony will begin at 10am, when the Armed Forces Day flag will be raised.

Cllr Bradley said: “People are very welcome to join us at this flag-raising event, to begin the celebrations of our amazing armed forces community, their bravery and the sacrifices they make for our country.”

Also attending will include:

  • Captain Mark Hamilton, Commanding Officer of HMS Sultan
  • Surgeon Captain Richard Heames, Commanding Officer of the Institute of Naval Medicine
  • Representatives from HMS Sultan and local veterans

Forces support services will have stalls at the top of the High Street (close to Falkland Gardens) until around 2pm, to chat to people about the help they offer:
