Teenager arrested and charged in Dollis Hill murder investigation

Met detectives investigating the fatal stabbing of a boy in Dollis Hill have charged a boy.

On Saturday, 30 May at 22:36hrs, police were called to reports of a stabbing and disorder on Dudden Hill Lane.

Officers attended the scene alongside the London Ambulance Service. Paramedics treated a 15-year-old boy for stab wounds before taking him to hospital. Despite the best efforts of doctors and nurses, he sadly died on Thursday, 4 June.

The victim has since been named as Jamal Ringrose. His next-of-kin continue to be supported by specialist officers.

As part of enquiries, detectives have been reviewing CCTV and gathering witness statements to help piece together the circumstances. On Tuesday, 16 June, officers charged a 16-year-old boy with murder, after he was arrested earlier that day. He has been remanded in custody and appeared at Willesden Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 17 June.

A further eight people have been previously arrested in connection with the wider disorder surrounding the incident. This work is being led by officers in north west London:

  • Two teenage boys were arrested on Tuesday, 2 June and Wednesday, 3 June. They have since both been charged with affray and possession of an offensive weapon.
  • An 18-year-old man was arrested on Sunday, 31 May on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm. He has been bailed pending further enquiries.
  • A 19-year-old man was arrested on Thursday, 4 June on suspicion of affray. He has been bailed pending further enquiries.
  • An 18-year-old man was arrested on Thursday, 11 June on suspicion of affray and possession of drugs. He has since been bailed pending further enquiries.
  • A 28-year-old man was arrested on Friday, 12 June on suspicion of rioting. A 27-year-old man was also arrested on Sunday, 14 June on suspicion of the same offence. They have both been bailed pending further enquiries.
  • A 17-year-old boy was arrested on Monday, 15 June on suspicion of affray and possession of an offensive weapon. He has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Detective Inspector Simon Ager, who is leading the investigation, said: “Our thoughts continue to be with the family and loved ones of Jamal at a difficult time.

“Our work has led to one boy being charged with murder and we continue to work at pace to pursue several lines of enquiry following Jamal’s tragic death.

“We would like to repeat our plea to anyone with information or footage of the incident to come forward. Dashcam or mobile phone recordings from the street at that time are particularly welcome.”

Detective Chief Superintendent Luke Williams, who leads policing in the area, said: “We recognise the concern locally after Jamal’s death and want to reassure our communities that we are doing everything possible to keep local people safe.

“Our officers have acted swiftly to make arrests in connection with the wider disorder surrounding this incident. This includes putting extra powers in place following Jamal’s death, allowing our officers to stop and search people in the area to protect the public and deter potential harm and criminality.”
