People encouraged to attend Wiltshire Council’s Climate and Environment Summer Showcase
Wiltshire Council alongside a host of partner and community organisations are coming together to deliver the Climate and Environment Summer Showcase next month (7 July) – a drop-in event with exciting exhibitions and stands to browse, and where people can speak to experts and share ideas.
The event will take place on 7 July from 1pm – 3pm at the Atrium next to the library, in County Hall, Trowbridge. People are encouraged to drop in and meet the people involved in a range of projects that are providing support and making a positive difference across the county. There is no need to book; people can attend at any time during the event.
This event aims to provide inspiration, share knowledge and help visitors learn how they can make a difference to their carbon /green footprint and energy use.
Visitors can find out more about how to install solar and battery on their house or premises, and speak to a broad range of environmental groups working for the benefit of Wiltshire residents.
Organisations attending the Summer Showcase include Let’s Go Zero, West Mercia Energy, Wiltshire Wildlife Community Energy, Switch Together, Wiltshire Warm Homes: Local Grant, Wiltshire Climate Alliance, alongside council representatives working on climate, environmental and ecological issues across Wiltshire
Cllr Ian Thorn, Wiltshire Council Leader, said: “We’re proud to lead from the front as a large organisation making significant changes to reduce our carbon output. However, we’ve always said we can’t do this alone, and our Summer Showcase provides a great opportunity for people to discover the changes they can make in their homes, businesses and communities to help support the significant action needed to protect our planet for future generations.
“We’ll have a host of experts in attendance ready to answer questions and provide information on the support available, as well as the range of initiatives people may wish to get involved in – some that could help save some money. Many people are passionate about the environment and want to do their bit, but with so much information available it can feel overwhelming. We’re aiming to demystify as much as we can, so people leave the event feeling more informed, more confident and more empowered to take action.
“I’d encourage everyone to drop-in at County Hall on 7 July – we’re looking forward to meeting as many people as possible.”
