Man convicted for the murder of Rene Graham in Ladbroke Grove
A senior Met detective has thanked a small pocket of the Ladbroke Grove community for their support, following the conviction of a man for murder.
Aderahman Boumzough, 25 (06.07.2000) of no fixed address, appeared at Woolwich Crown Court on Friday, 26 June, where he was found guilty of the murder of Rene Graham, 15 in July 2024 following a two-week trial.
Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell, who led the investigation, said: “Following Rene’s senseless murder, we made a direct plea to both the Ladbroke Grove community and those who had attended the event where he lost his life. A year on, we renewed that appeal, urging anyone with information to come forward and help us secure justice for Rene’s family.
“As part of that appeal, we released CCTV footage showing Boumzough pulling a firearm from his pocket in broad daylight, fleeing the scene, and attempting to shoot a second man as he made his escape.”
“While only a small number of people came forward, I would like to thank those individuals who provided statements and supported the investigation, including attending court, who refused to allow a dangerous individual such as Boumzough to live amongst them.
“This conviction is the result of relentless work by officers who painstakingly reviewed hundreds of hours of CCTV footage to trace the gunman’s movements before and after the shooting.”
An investigation was launched on Sunday, 21 July 2024, after police were called to Emslie Horniman’s Pleasance Park at around 19:20hrs following reports of a shooting.
CCTV enquiries showed a man calmly approaching the children’s play area, where a family music festival was taking place, before firing a single shot.
Rene suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and sadly died at the scene. Footage also showed the suspect chasing and attempting to shoot a second victim however, the gun jammed and he fled.
A murder investigation was launched, with officers working tirelessly to piece together the events of that evening through forensic work, witness enquiries, and the detailed analysis of CCTV tracing the suspect’s movements. As the investigation progressed, Boumzough was identified as the suspect, with a compelling body of evidence steadily building against him and he was arrested on Tuesday, 2 September 2025.
He was charged on Wednesday, 3 September 2025 with murder and attempted murder.
Following his charge, enquiries into his phone uncovered a video in which Boumzough rapped while appearing to reference the firearm malfunction, saying: “don’t you hate it when your ting jams? I was prepared to take soul, but Allah had a different plan.”
Following a two-week trial, Boumzough was found guilty of murder and attempted murder. He will appear at Woolwich Crown Court for sentencing on Friday, 3 July.
DCI Foxwell added: “Rene’s murder was a tragic act of violence carried out at a popular family-friendly community event. Despite a large number of people being present, we faced significant challenges in obtaining crucial information in the early stages.
“Ultimately it took a small amount of information from members of the public, combined with the diligence and determination of our investigation team, to bring Boumzough to justice.
“My thoughts continue to remain with Rene’s family and friends. I thank them for their cooperation and patience throughout this investigation. I hope today’s conviction provides them with a form of closure.”
