Appeal after woman hurt in Southampton robbery
Officers are appealing for information following a robbery in Southampton.
At some time between 7am and 7.30am on Thursday, June 26 the victim, a 31-year-old woman, was walking along Houndwell Place on the same side of the road as the old Debenhams store.
She was approached by a man who demanded her purse. When she refused, he punched her in the face which caused her to fall to the floor, where he then kicked her.
She handed over her purse and she ran off along Queensway. The purse is described as yellow and around 15cm long. It contained £100 in £20 notes, and a number of bank and store cards.
The victim suffered bruising to her face and soreness in her hip and abdomen.
The man police want to speak to is described as: black, aged in his 20s, quite skinny but muscular build and with a short beard. He was wearing a black top, black shoes and a black hat.
