Appeal for witnesses as murder investigation launched in Shadwell
Detectives have launched a murder investigation and are appealing for witnesses after a man was fatally stabbed in Shadwell.
Police were called at 16:01hrs on Tuesday, 7 April to reports of an assault on Watney Street.
Officers attended with the London Ambulance Service and found a man, believed to be in his late 20s or early 30s with knife wounds.
He was taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition where, despite the efforts of medical staff, he sadly died. Detectives are working to identify his next of kin.
A second man, in his 50s, was found at the scene with a knife wound. He was also taken to hospital. His condition is not believed to be life threatening.
Detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command have launched a murder investigation. No arrests have been made at this time.
Detective Chief Inspector Dave Whellams, who is leading the Met’s investigation, said: “My thoughts remain with the victim’s family and loved ones, as well as those in the community who have been affected by this incident.
“We are working to establish the circumstances surrounding his tragic death.
“We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident or who has CCTV or dash cam footage that could assist in our enquiries – please come forward with any information.”
