Community First to manage Fareham Lottery
Fareham Borough Council is pleased to announce that Community First will take over the management of the Fareham Community Lottery starting 2 June, continuing the valuable work launched nearly five years ago by One Community.
The Fareham Community Lottery is a fun and effective way for residents to support local good causes while having the chance to win cash prizes. Tickets cost just £1, with 40p going directly to a charity or community group of the buyer’s choice. There are currently more than 70 local causes registered.
Cllr Mrs Connie Hockley, Executive Member for Leisure, said: I’m delighted Community First is taking on the management of our Community Lottery. The Council receives 10% of ticket sales, as well as proceeds from anyone who selects the general ‘Community Fund’ option — all of which helps us offer even more support to local groups. The more people who play, the more we can give back to our community.
Tim Houghton, Chief Executive of Community First, added: We’re proud to continue the work started by One Community. This lottery gives Fareham residents a direct way to support the causes that matter to them, and we’re excited to help more community projects grow and thrive
💡 About the Community Fund
Local not-for-profit organisations can apply for grants from the Community Fund year-round, with awards of up to £4,999 available for capital costs such as:
-
Equipment
-
Building improvements
-
Furnishings
To qualify, projects must benefit a wide number of Fareham residents and be unable to secure funding from other sources.
The application process is intentionally simple: no lengthy forms — just a phone conversation with the Leisure and Community team, a project overview, and supporting documents. Applications are reviewed by the Executive Member for Leisure and Community, and decisions are typically made within two months.
✅ Recent Grant Awards Include:
-
£4,999 to Locks Heath Cricket Club for a new scorebox and storage
-
£2,139 to Southern Domestic Abuse Service for Fareham Refuge furnishings
-
