Community funding approved for Burridge AFC
Burridge AFC is the latest good cause to be awarded grant funding through Fareham Borough Council’s Community Fund.
The football club applied for funding to help purchase Home and Away kits for its newly-formed, under 18s, girls’ football team for 15 to 17 year olds.
Burridge AFC was formed in 1989 and has been running successfully for the last 36 years. At present, it has four teams, one open-age, two veteran teams and the under 18s girls’ team. This new team was formed due to high demand, is currently in the League, but have been using borrowed kit until their own kit can be purchased.
The club was awarded £1,000 from the Community Fund with the remaining amount to be funded from its reserves.
Executive Member for Leisure and Community at Fareham Borough Council, Cllr Connie Hockley, said: “I am delighted that Burridge AFC has been awarded this Community Funding, particularly in support of its under 18s girls’ team, which is proving to be so popular. The Community Fund is designed to support projects just like this, which help young people stay active and social within the wider Fareham community.”
