Debut single by QUICK ROMANCE! ‘Brian Jones’s Hair’ c/w ‘Zero Tic’ OUT SOON ON DG!
It’s time, brothers and sisters, for Quick Romance to step out and be seen.
Already sharing stages with the likes of Jon Spencer, The Briefs and Deaf Devils, Quick Romance have been tearing through sweat-soaked venues and backroom stages across the West Country, delivering raw, unfiltered rock ’n’ roll with teeth.
On guitars and bass, Hayden James and Gabe Bonner form a snarling, no-nonsense backbone — a modern-day reimagining of Wayne Kramer and Fred “Sonic” Smith, dragged headfirst into the present. The pair describe themselves as “two straws in the same Coke,” fuelled by the same restless energy and refusal to sit still.
Front and centre is Matilda Scotland, a singer with presence, attitude and zero interest in playing it safe. She channels defiance and sharp-eyed observation, warning of the hazards of growing up in a world that bites back. Her influences range from music and fashion to Brian Jones’s hair, and she wears her swagger as confidently as the sunglasses she claims to have taken from Ian Hunter.
Behind the kit, Oliver Bull-Lifely keeps the chaos moving. His drumming swings, crashes and sways — unpredictable, relentless and impossible to ignore. Precision isn’t the point; momentum is.
If you’re looking for a reference point, imagine Poly Styrene locking in with The Sick Things, tearing through a chorus of “Bondage Boy.” If you’re not, all the better — Quick Romance are best experienced without a safety net.
For the record, these teen punks will sing for Scotland Yard… if the price is right.
Quick Romance. Coming soon to a stage near you.
