Discover local support and services at Wiltshire’s Social Care Community Fayre
Wiltshire Council is inviting people to discover the wide range of community groups, charities and local services that support children, young people, families and adults in Wiltshire at the upcoming Social Care Community Fayre.
Coinciding with World Social Work Day 2026, the event takes place on Tuesday 17 March, from 10am to 4pm in the Atrium at County Hall, Trowbridge. The Fayre will bring together organisations dedicated to supporting residents of all ages – from early childhood through to older adulthood – promoting wellbeing, independence, and stronger communities.
With a diverse mix of stalls, the Fayre offers a free opportunity to:
- Meet local organisations, charities, and community groups
- Discover the support available for children, families, adults and carers
- Learn about services that promote wellbeing, independence, and community connection
- Chat directly with the people delivering children’s social care, early help, family support and adult social care across Wiltshire
A wide range of organisations will be present, offering information on everything from family hubs, children’s emotional wellbeing, SEND and early years support, to independent living, reablement and mental health services for adults. This includes representatives from children’s social care, early help services, youth support teams, fostering and adoption, safeguarding, family and youth charities, carer support groups, adult social care teams, community connectors, and organisations helping people of all ages build confidence, resilience and independence.
The event is open to everyone, from residents looking for support for themselves or a loved one, families accessing early help, unpaid carers, volunteers and professionals working in local services.
People looking for adult social care information can find guidance on independent living, shared lives, home adaptations, reablement and recovery, wellbeing technology, mental health support, community connections and care options.
Those interested in children’s services can learn about fostering, early help, emotional wellbeing activities, safeguarding support, services for young carers, transitions into adulthood and education support.
Across the Fayre, organisations will offer practical advice, resources, demonstrations and signposting, helping people live well, stay connected and access the right support at the right time.
Cllr Gordon King, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, said: “As we mark Social Work Week and celebrate World Social Work Day, we’re reminded of the vital role our social workers, social care teams and community partners play in the lives of people across Wiltshire. This year’s theme, ‘Co‑Building Hope and Harmony: A Harambee Call to Unite a Divided Society’, captures the spirit of what our services strive for every day: supporting older adults to stay independent, helping families to thrive, and ensuring children grow up safe, supported and hopeful for the future.
“The Social Care Community Fayre showcases the breadth of support available for both adults and families and highlights how services can work together to strengthen Wiltshire’s communities.”
Cllr Jon Hubbard, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, added: “Our aim is to make it easier for people to access the advice and services they need to live well, stay connected, and remain independent for as long as possible. I’m grateful to the many groups and charities joining us for this event, and I hope everyone who comes along finds it both welcoming and informative.”
