Drink driver jailed for causing serious injuries in M27 crash
A drink driver has today been jailed after a footballer lost his leg in a serious crash on the M27.
Police were called at 10.25pm on Saturday 1 February 2025 to a report of a serious collision on the M27, after a driver of a Mercedes had crashed into a VW Golf which had been pulled over onto the hard shoulder.
Footballer Jordan Chiedozie was inspecting a flat tyre on the Golf when the crash happened.
The court heard his injuries were so severe that he lost his leg and was put into an induced coma.
The driver of the Mercedes, 45-year-old Anna Malgorzata Bogusiewicz, of Park Avenue in Wraysbury, Berkshire, was charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving and a charge of drink driving.
Today (23 January) at Southampton Crown Court, she was handed a sentence of 28 months imprisonment.
She will also be disqualified from driving for three years after her release and will need to take an extended retest before being allowed behind the wheel again.
DC Joy Jarvis said: “There is absolutely no excuse for getting behind the wheel of any vehicle when you are impaired from drinking alcohol.
“This terrible collision, which has changed a man’s life, could have easily been avoided if the defendant hadn’t made that selfish decision to drive while drunk.”
