Hampshire and Solent Film Office Launched
Expenditure on film and high-end TV production in the UK is worth more than £5.2 billion in 2024. A new film office will ensure more of this investment comes to locations across Southampton, Portsmouth and Hampshire.
The Hampshire and Solent Film Office will be managed by FilmFixer, an experienced agency that already manages film location work for local authorities in Suffolk and many London boroughs. Start-up costs have been covered by the Solent Growth Partnership and the Partnership for South Hampshire.
The location management service will, once established, be fully self-funding and attract additional income to the owners of film locations in the area, including local authorities.
The agency was launched at FOCUS, the UK’s leading Location Managers’ conference, which took place on Monday 8th and 9th December 2025.
Cllr Steve Pitt, Leader – Portsmouth City Council, said: “The launch of the film office is great news for the local economy. Attracting more film productions to the area will mean more income for local businesses more jobs for local people and more visitors to tourism destinations in the area.”
Andrew Pavord Chief executive and Founder of FilmFixer said: “We can’t wait to get cracking – there are lots of opportunities and some fantastic locations in Hampshire. We are about to start accepting permit applications and building the location library.”
The launch was sponsored by Farnborough International Studio, the area’s leading film studio.
Rachel Morrison, Studio Director, said: “The launch of the Hampshire and Solent Film Agency is the best possible news for the local film industry. It will enable the area to punch its weight and attract productions which have in recent years gone to other parts of the country where more support is available.”
