Have your say on Wiltshire Council’s vision for the county

People are being asked to help shape Wiltshire Council’s community-centred draft plan by having their say on the vision for the county over the next decade.

Whether they are residents, business representatives, community groups or anyone with an interest in the future of the county and Wiltshire Council services – people are being invited to complete a survey and provide their views on the draft Council Plan 2025-35. The survey can be completed here. Hard copies are also available at Wiltshire Council’s main offices in Chippenham, Trowbridge and Salisbury, as well as at its libraries. People have until 2 September to complete the survey.

Later in the summer the council will hold a series of engagement events so that people can find out more information about the plan and provide their feedback in person. Details and dates of the events will be confirmed in due course.

The community-centred plan, which was unveiled at Wiltshire Council’s cabinet meeting on 8 July sets out what the council wants to achieve over the coming years.

Underpinned by the three principles of Together. Fair. Open, the plan’s priorities are:

  • Supporting people to have fulfilling lives
  • Protecting our communities
  • Making Wiltshire child-friendly and providing opportunities for all our young people
  • Enriching and protecting our environment for future generations
  • Creating more accessible, safer and greener transport
  • Promoting healthier lives
  • Making culture for everyone
  • Building for our communities
  • Helping the economy work for everyone
  • Empowering and working with our communities

Cllr Ian Thorn, Leader of Wiltshire Council, said: “It’s vital to us that people have the opportunity to tell us what they think about our plan because all the work we do as a council and everything we want to achieve is in service to them.

“We want our plan to be authentic and reflect the county, so I urge people to tell us what they think. Whether it’s to confirm we’re on the right track or to tell us we should be doing things a little differently, all comments are valid and very welcome indeed.

“We can’t claim to have a community-centred approach without people’s feedback, so I look forward to hearing what people have to say and having some meaningful conversations at our engagement events later in the summer.”

Once all feedback has been collated the final version of the Council Plan will go to Full Council for adoption in October.
