Kim Deal – ‘Live From Greenwich Village

Last Updated: July 19, 2025By Tags:

On a rainy March afternoon, Kim Deal descended on the halls of the legendary Electric Lady Studios in Greenwich Village NYC to record four intimate versions of tracks from her debut solo album, Nobody Loves You More (2024), alongside a band of players who also appear on the album itself: Rob Bochnik (guitar), Susan Voelz (violin), Allison Chelsey (cello), Mando Lopez (bass), and Lindsay Glover (drums). The four songs – “Nobody Loves You More”, “Summerland”, “Are You Mine?”,  and “Wish I Was” — have now been weaved together into a 30-minute special for US Radio, broadcasting with commentary from Deal herself.

The US Radio Special hosted by Kim Deal, officially premiered today (Tuesday July 15) via Deal’s hometown NPR affiliate, WYSO (Dayton), with a WYSO performance of “Are You Mine”.

Last week, NPR World Café further kicked things off with an exclusive broadcast of the Live from Greenwich Village rendition of title track “Nobody Loves You More”. WFUV also aired a special FUV Live Session featuring audio from Deal’s Greenwich Village session, accompanied by a conversation between Deal and host Eric Holland. Additional non-commercial radio and NPR affiliate partners are set to broadcast throughout the rest of the summer.

Nobody Loves You MoreKim Deal’s debut solo album released November 22, 2024, is a celebration of her unmatched artistry, nodding not only to her career highlights with celebrated bands across the alternative landscape (PixiesThe AmpsThe Breeders), but also to her immovable cultural weight influencing musicians like Kurt Cobain and Olivia Rodrigo through the generations. In keeping with Deal’s meticulous approach to her art, the album was refined over several years, compiling songs written over a 10-year stretch that deal with different moments in her life — from the winter vacations with her parents in the Florida Keys to her mother’s dementia. Its oldest songs, “Are You Mine?” and “Wish I Was”, were written and originally recorded in 2011 shortly after Deal came off the Pixies’ Lost Cities Tour and relocated to Los Angeles (early versions of those songs were included in a 2013 self-released five-part, ten-song seven-inch vinyl series). The album found Deal enlisting a variety of collaborators, from Breeders past and present (Mando Lopez, twin sister Kelley DealJim MacphersonBritt Walford), to Raymond McGinley (Teenage Fanclub), Jack Lawrence (Raconteurs), Savages’ Fay Milton and Ayse Hassan, and Steve Albini, who recorded much of the record.

Following its release, Nobody Loves You More earned ‘Best of 2024’ accolades from the likes of Bandcamp Daily, MOJO, The Independent, and Consequence of Sound, with additional full-length features in The New York Times, The Guardian, Interview Magazine, NPR, and more. Furthermore, Deal made an appearance on the flagship season of the new Netflix series Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney, where she performed “Nobody Loves You More”, in addition to a special cover of Sonic Youth’s “Little Trouble Girl” alongside Kim Gordon (as The Kims).

This summer, the Richard Ayoade-directed videos for Nobody Loves You More track “Big Ben Beat” and “Spacewoman” (by The Breeders) were added to the esteemed Criterion Collection, as part of a Richard Ayoade x Kim Deal x The Breeders folder. A limited edition “Big Ben Beat” film poster, designed by Athens-based artist Vasilis Marmatakis (who has previous credits with director Yorgos Lanthimos and Oliver Sim), also became available via the 4AD webstore — a small quantity are still available HERE for a limited time.

Nobody Loves You More was further celebrated with Deal’s first headlining tour, with dates throughout the States, the UK, and Europe earlier this year (including stops at Primavera Sound Barcelona and Portugal). The tour continues this summer — see the full upcoming routing, including her forthcoming appearance at the heavily anticipated Newport Folk Festival and a one-off show at Thalia Hall in Chicago, HERE.

Kim Deal’s Nobody Loves You More is out digitally and on CD, cassette (Bandcamp only), standard black vinyl, Florida Orange vinyl (indie retail only), and Dazzling Galaxy vinyl (4AD & artist store only). Find more information HERE
