Man charged in Winchester burglary investigation

A man has been charged as part of an investigation into an incident at a flat in Chesil Street, Winchester.

We were called at 2.28pm on Sunday 1 February to a report that a group of men had entered the address and assaulted a woman.

The woman, in her 30s, sustained bruising to her head but did not require hospital treatment.

A 26-year-old man and a 27-year-old man, both from Winchester, were arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary. They have since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

On Monday 2 February, officers arrested a third man in connection with this incident.

Harley Pain, 18, of Christchurch Road, Winchester, has since been charged with burglary dwelling with intent to steal and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

He is due to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court today (Tuesday 3 February).
