Man found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman in Portsmouth
A man has been found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman in Portsmouth in July last year.
At 5:30pm on Monday 7 July 2025, a woman was walking down Winston Churchill Avenue when she became aware that a man was following her.
The man approached her, made sexual noises, and then grabbed her aggressively by the shoulders whilst making sexual comments to her.
The woman was frightened and attempted to fight him off. She was assisted by several members of the public who were driving past and stopped to help her.
An investigation was launched and Conor Hodgkins, 35, of no fixed abode in Portsmouth was arrested and charged with sexual assault.
He appeared at Portsmouth Crown Court on Thursday 26 March, where he was found guilty by a jury, following a three-day trial.
Hodgkins has been remanded into custody and is due to appear again at the same court on Friday 15 May for sentencing.
