A man has been sentenced to two years in prison after throwing a bag of excrement at Prison Officers.

Kirk Marchbank, 53, was sentenced on Monday 6 October at Salisbury Crown Court.

The court heard that the assault took place at HMP Winchester at around 12pm on 26 January 2024.

Marchbank, previously of Glanville Road in Brixton, had been in the exercise yard when he refused to return to his cell.

The victims, two Prison Officers, were attempting to engage with Marchbank when he threw a bag of excrement at them.

The bag hit the wall behind them and exploding, causing faeces to hit their backs.

Having been released from prison in 2024, Marchbank was convicted at Salisbury Crown Court on Monday 6 October following a two day trial.

He was sentenced to two and a half years in prison.
