New traffic lights complete at A360 Black Dog crossroads – making busy junction safer
Wiltshire Council has completed the major safety improvement scheme at the A360 Black Dog crossroads, installing new traffic lights and upgrading the layout to enhance safety at this busy junction.
The project will improve road safety at this busy and important junction, enhance traffic flow, and ensure greater long‑term reliability for road users.
Along with the new traffic signals, a reduced speed limit will help to create a safer environment for all road users. The improvements follow earlier work to install a dedicated electricity supply, which enabled the final phase of the project to progress.
Work began on 20 October 2025 and has now concluded following resurfacing of the carriageway, installation of the traffic signals, and the application of new road markings.
Cllr Martin Smith, Cabinet Member for Highways, said: “We’re delighted to mark the completion of this important project on the A360 at Black Dog crossroads.
“The new traffic signals and safety enhancements deliver meaningful improvements for residents, local communities, and all who rely on this busy route.
“I want to thank everyone for their patience during the work, and we hope people agree that the long‑term benefits will make this junction significantly safer for all.”
The council will continue to monitor the junction’s performance and make any adjustments as necessary to ensure it continues to operate safely and effectively.
