Police investigating stabbing in Portsmouth’s Kingston Park make four arrests and charge two people
Four people have been arrested, including two charged, as part of an investigation into a serious assault in Portsmouth.
Police were called to Kingston Park, next to Clarkes Road, at 6.57pm on Tuesday 24 June following reports that two teenagers had been assaulted by people who they are believed to have known.
It was alleged that a 19-year-old man had been stabbed in the arm with a knife, and he was subsequently taken to hospital for treatment before being discharged.
A 17-year-old boy was also reported to have been bitten on the arm, for which he received treatment.
Following a number of enquiries, two people have now been charged in connection with this incident:
- A 16-year-old boy from Southsea was charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and breach of a Criminal Behaviour Order – namely, associating with a person who he was prohibited from associating with.
- A 16-year-old boy from Portsmouth was charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, and breach of a Criminal Behaviour Order – namely, associating with a person who he was prohibited from associating with.
Both were remanded in custody to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court today (30 June).
Two further people have also been arrested in connection with this incident.
A 16-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He has been bailed until 26 September while enquiries continue.
A 39-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. She has been bailed with conditions until 29 September while enquiries continue.
