The Met has launched a murder investigation and arrested four men after a man in his 60s was fatally stabbed in Walthamstow.

At 20:59hrs on Friday, 20 February, officers were called to a property on Westbury Road, Walthamstow, following reports of a stabbing.

Police and paramedics found a man with stab wounds to his chest. Despite the efforts of emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers are in the process of informing his next-of-kin.

Four men – two aged in their 20s and two in their 50s – were arrested later that evening on suspicion of murder. They remain in police custody.

The investigation is being led by homicide detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, with urgent enquiries ongoing to establish what led to the attack.

Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke, leading the investigation, said: “We are working around the clock to understand exactly what led to this man’s murder.

“While four men have now been arrested, this remains an early-stage investigation and we still need information from the public.

“If you saw or heard anything, or have any details that could assist us, please come forward.”
