Academy and Scotland wicket keeper-batter Pippa Sproul has signed a rookie contract with Hampshire.
Sproul has featured in four ODIs for Scotland and represented the nation at U19 level where she was her country’s leading run-scorer in the most recent World Cup in January.
She has been on the Vipers Academy for the past two years and made a century in a three-day game in August 2025.
For the Vipers Academy this summer, Sproul racked up 553 runs averaging over 46, with one fifty and a mammoth 141 against Warwickshire Academy where she batted for just under five hours.
Pippa Sproul said: “I’m really excited to sign my first professional contract having represented Hampshire since I was 11 in all the county age groups.
My Academy journey alongside playing in Tier 2 has been hugely important for my development, I am very grateful for the opportunity I have been given and I’m looking forward to the season ahead.”
Born in Southampton in 2008, Sproul has represented Hampshire since U11s level and played 20 games for the county as an amateur from 2023-24.
She scored 204 runs in 20 games for Hampshire with a best of 52 against Hertfordshire in August 2024.
Adam Carty, Regional Director of Women’s Cricket, said: “Pippa has been greatly impressive for our Academy and 2nd XI. She’s a versatile top-middle order batter and is a capable glove women.
“She’s gained great experience with Scotland both at Under 19s and full international level and she performed well in tier two with Middlesex in 2025. We’re delighted by the progress she’s made over the past two seasons to a point where she’s fully justified the step up to pro status.”
In 2025, Sproul featured for Middlesex in Tier 2 as the Seaxes won the Vitality Blast Women’s League Two title where Sproul scored 116 runs.
The 17-year-old scored 163 runs at an average of 40.75 for Middlesex in the Women’s Metro Bank One Day Cup League Two and made 98* against Yorkshire side.
