Solar Together 2025 now open as trusted group-buying scheme returns for Wiltshire and Swindon residents

Last Updated: June 8, 2025By

Residents across Wiltshire and Swindon can now register for the 2025 Solar Together scheme – a group-buying initiative that offers high-quality solar panel and battery storage installation from trusted suppliers at a competitive cost.

Delivered in partnership with Wiltshire Council, Swindon Borough Council and iChoosr, an independent group purchasing provider, Solar Together uses the principle of group buying to secure competitive prices from vetted installers. This means residents and businesses can get a better deal than they might get on the open market — with no obligation to proceed and clear, personal recommendations provided to every household or business that registers.

The scheme is open to homeowners, small and medium-sized businesses, and commonhold associations across Wiltshire and Swindon.

Now in its fourth year, the scheme continues to grow in popularity. In previous years it has enabled more than 1,700 Wiltshire households to install solar panels and battery storage, with a combined investment of over £15 million into local green energy. The panels installed through the scheme are expected to reduce CO₂ emissions by 33,500 tonnes over their 25-year lifetime.

The scheme includes the option to install:

  • Solar panels (solar PV)
  • Optional battery storage
  • Optional EV charge points
  • Battery-only installation for those with existing panels

Cllr Paul Sample, Wiltshire Council Cabinet Member for Environment, Climate and Waste, is already a satisfied Solar Together customer. He said: “I used Solar Together to provide my solar panel requirements, taking part in the scheme last year. I have already saved hundreds of pounds off my electricity bills – as well as saving tonnes of carbon. I particularly like the mobile phone app which shows how much I’m generating from hour to hour.

“Solar Together is a smart, practical way for people to take control of their energy bills, reduce their carbon footprint and invest in long-term improvements to their homes. It’s supported by the council because it delivers trusted, good-value installations through a process people can feel confident in.

“By bringing residents together, the scheme helps to deliver low-carbon technology at scale across communities. This makes it easier and more affordable for residents across Wiltshire to move toward cleaner, more sustainable energy.

“I’d encourage people to register their interest and see what the scheme can offer. It’s quick with no obligation and it could make a real difference to your home and future energy costs.”

Feedback from previous participants has been overwhelmingly positive. One Wiltshire resident shared: “Our experience of Solar Together was great from start to finish. We signed up just to see what the cost might be and were pleasantly surprised that we could afford the quoted price. A seamless service with excellent customer care throughout.”

Another added: “The process was straightforward with good communication and explanation of what was going to happen and when.”

It’s free for residents to register their interest and there is no commitment to go ahead. Those who register will receive a personal recommendation based on their roof and energy needs.

To register, people can visit the Solar Together site for the local authority area in which they reside:
