Teenager arrested following proactive stop in Basingstoke
A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of drug and knife offences following a proactive stop in Basingstoke yesterday.
Officers from the Roads Policing Unit, based at Whitchurch, were patrolling the town at around 1pm when they noticed that a black BMW did not have any insurance.
The car stopped on Gainsborough Road and due to suspicious circumstances, a search was carried out.
Officers located more than 45 bags of cannabis, drug paraphernalia, a lock knife, £275 in cash and a black balaclava.
A search was also carried out at a nearby address and a large knife was located. All items were seized.
An 18-year-old man from Basingstoke was arrested on suspicion of:
- Possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of Class B
- Use a motor vehicle without third party insurance
- Drive a vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence
- Possess a knife blade / sharp pointed article in a public place
- Possess an offensive weapon in a private place
- Acquire / use / possess criminal property
He has been bailed to allow for further enquiries to be carried out.
