Views sought on Basingstokes borough council’s play spaces

Last Updated: August 5, 2025By

Residents are being encouraged to have their say on play spaces in the Basingstoke borough.

From skateparks and spaces for ball games to the swings and slides in play areas, Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council is asking users of its 153 play spaces to tell them which they use the most and why.

Views can be given through an online survey at www.basingstoke.gov.uk/playareas and responses will help to shape how the council plans its play parks for the future.

Cabinet Member for Residents’ Services and Housing Cllr Laura James said: “We know that providing free access to outdoor play spaces is important for our residents’ health and wellbeing.

“We continue to invest in these spaces refurbishing play areas most in need of improvements and replacing broken or aging equipment, where we can.  But this ongoing work and prioritisation should also be guided by the views of those people who use these spaces to understand what they value about them and why.”

Residents can have their say until 5pm on Friday 26 September at www.basingstoke.gov.uk/playareas or request a paper copy by contacting 01256 844844.
