Wiltshire Libraries mark Green Libraries Week with eco-themed activities and advice
Wiltshire Libraries will be joining libraries across the country to celebrate Green Libraries Week 2025 – a national campaign highlighting how libraries can help build a more sustainable future.
Running from Monday 27 October to Sunday 2 November, this year’s theme is “Seeds of Change – Make a Difference with Your Library”, celebrating the vital role libraries play in tackling the climate emergency and empowering communities to take positive environmental action.
Activities at Wiltshire Libraries during the week will include free energy advice drop-in sessions, demonstrations on thermal imaging cameras to help identify heat loss and information on how residents can borrow a camera for free from Wiltshire libraries, along with eco-themed activities for all ages, including green-themed rhyme times, story times and child-friendly drop-ins.
Cllr Mel Jacob, Cabinet Member for Libraries, said: “Wiltshire libraries are at the heart of their communities, and Green Libraries Week is a great opportunity to show how they act as a hub for sustainability and practical action.
“From advice on energy saving to fun activities for children, there’s something for everyone – and it all helps make a difference for our environment.”
Partners including Warm and Safe Wiltshire and Zero Chippenham will deliver free energy advice sessions and demonstrations on sustainable living, retrofitting and energy efficiency.
As part of the week, Zero Chippenham will be demonstrating thermal imaging cameras, which help identify areas of heat loss in homes. Library members can borrow thermal imaging cameras for free from Wiltshire’s larger libraries or reserve them online for collection at any library location.
