Woking Leisure Centre refurbishment start date revealed

Last Updated: February 10, 2026By

Everyone Active has revealed the start date for an upcoming refurbishment at Woking Leisure Centre, following recent news it will benefit from a £1.2 million refurbishment.

Works to upgrade the fitness facilities at the leisure centre will take place in phases between late February and early April.

The spin studio will close from Monday 23 February and reopen in mid-March. The group exercise studios will close from Monday 2 March and are expected to reopen shortly after the new spin studio, also in mid-March.

The gym will close from Monday 16 March, with works completed by early April, when the first stage of the refurbishment will be fully complete.

The centre, which is managed by Everyone Active on behalf of Woking Borough Council, will see a wide range of improvements, with upgrades across the gym, group exercise and spin studios.

An upgraded gym area will offer the very latest in state-of-the-art Life Fitness and Hammer Strength equipment, alongside a new look and feel to create a fresh and modernised space.

New equipment will include additional squat racks and benches to meet rising demand, with new treadmills, Watt bikes, and functional fitness equipment added to the functional and cardio areas to support the growing Hyrox training trend.

The centre’s group exercise studios will be fully refurbished, alongside the group cycling studio, which will feature brand-new Keiser bikes in a modernised space with upgraded lighting and sound systems.

Virtual spin will also be introduced alongside Les Mills, offering a wider variety of cycling sessions.

A brand-new fascial stimulator will also be introduced as part of the gym refurbishment – designed to deeply massage and stimulate the body’s connective tissue to improve circulation, reduce muscle tension, increase flexibility, and speed up recovery.

During the refurbishment period, members will be given access to nearby gym facilities, including Woking Sportsbox and Eastwood Leisure Centre.

Stuart Mills, area contract manager at Everyone Active, said: “We’re delighted to announce the start date for the refurbishment at Woking Leisure Centre, which will transform this well-loved local facility.

“The refurbishment will deliver a new and improved centre, with significant upgrades to the gym, group exercise and spin studios, enabling us to support even more members of the community.

“This is the first step in a wider programme of improvements, with more exciting plans in the pipeline coming later this year.”

Cllr Ellen Nicholson, Woking Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for Leisure, added: “This marks a major investment in one of our borough’s most well‑used leisure facilities, with Everyone Active demonstrating their commitment to high‑quality facilities and excellent services for residents.

“The upgrades will create a modern, welcoming environment that supports people of all ages to stay active and healthy. I look forward to seeing the benefits this investment brings to our community.”
