Two men have pleaded guilty to affray following a Met investigation into an assault at a nightclub in Mayfair

Chris Brown, 37 (05.05.1989), of California, and Omololu Akinlolu, 40 (20.06.1986), of Florida, pleaded guilty to affray at Southwark Crown Court on Friday, 24 July.

Both men will be sentenced on Monday, 26 October

The conviction comes after a lengthy investigation, which saw Met officers work with colleagues across UK policing to ensure that the pair would face justice.

The Met’s investigation began on 19 February 2023, after police received a report that a man had been assaulted at a nightclub in Hanover Square in the early hours of the morning.

Enquiries established that the victim had been at the nightclub at around 03:00hrs when he was approached by two men and assaulted.

The victim attended hospital, where he was found to have suffered a head injury and a minor injury to his knee.

Police were made aware of the incident and attended the hospital to take an initial statement from the victim.

Detectives then worked to piece together the circumstances and trace the two suspects. Brown and Akinlolu were identified by investigators and repeated attempts were made to interview them under caution. They were given multiple opportunities to attend voluntarily, but did not attend and were subsequently circulated as wanted.

CCTV enquiries showed that Brown struck the victim’s head several times with a glass bottle, while Akinlolu punched the man to the back of the head. The victim was then chased, pushed to the floor and kicked.

The attackers were known to the victim.

Police were alerted that Brown was flying to the UK on 14 May 2025 and he was arrested in Manchester in the early hours of 15 May.

Akinlolu was arrested in Manchester on 15 May 2025.

Detective Constable Zara Ripamonti, from the Metropolitan Police Service, said:

“This was a disgraceful, unprovoked assault that put a man in hospital.

“There is no place for serious violence like this in the London and I’m pleased these men accepted what they did wasn’t just completely unacceptable – but criminal.

“This has been a long investigation and we’ve worked with police colleagues in the UK to bring these two men to justice.”
