Council’s Trade Waste Service receives record customer satisfaction

Fareham Borough Council is delighted to announce that its trade waste collection service, WasteSavers, has received a 93% satisfaction score in a recent customer satisfaction survey.

Fareham Borough Council has managed its WasteSavers service for businesses for over 40 years. It historically had around 950 trade waste customers across Fareham and Gosport and the service was well received with an 85% satisfaction rate in previous years.

The Council introduced a fully compliant food waste collection service, along with an enhanced recycling service in April 2025, as part of the new national Simpler Recycling legislation.  This led to an increase in its customer base of over 90 new businesses and has meant that over 400 customers are now able to recycle more.

Six months on from the introduction of Simpler Recycling, WasteSavers was given a 93% satisfaction rate by its customers, with 65% giving 10 out of 10 for service.

Customers also appreciated the reliable and cost-effective service, the care and attention the collection team give to putting bins back where they found them, the friendly and professional staff and the good communication from the customer services team.

Executive Mamber for Streetscene, Cllr Ian Bastable, said: “We are extremely proud of our trade waste service and these customer satisfaction scores are testament to the hard work and professionalism of the whole WasteSavers team. We have collected over 70 tonnes of food waste since the service started back in April and I delighted with how smoothly the changes have been implemented. For a service that has been running for over 40 years, we are constantly looking at how to improve and enhance it, so that it can continue to be delivered for years to come.”
