Jack Hands, 22, jailed for stealing a car and driving dangerously in Basingstoke
Jack Hands has been jailed for two years and eight months after he stole a car and drove dangerously in Basingstoke.
Jack Hands, 22, of Staverton Road, Reading, stole a silver Mercedes car from Sarum Hill and collided with four parked cars on Diana Close on Saturday 31 January.
The stolen car was located and officers launched an investigation. Following a number of enquiries, Hands was arrested on Thursday 26 February and later charged.
He pleaded guilty to robbery and driving a motor vehicle dangerously and was jailed for two years and eight months at Winchester Crown Court on Wednesday 1 April.
Basingstoke Inspector Jim Gallimore said: “Jack Hands’ actions that day were incredibly dangerous and reckless.
“Not only did he steal a car, but he also drove in a dangerous manner which could have had far worse consequences.
“I hope this result reassures the public that we take reports like this incredibly seriously and we will do all we can to ensure those who commit crimes within our communities face the consequences of their actions.”
