The Kings Theatre welcomes back Proms at The Kings on Sunday 10th May for another unforgettable evening of nostalgia, patriotism, and spectacular live performance. The evening will be hosted by audience favourite and local legend Fred Dinenage, with proceeds supporting local charity Veterans Outreach Support (VOS) and The Kings’ regeneration campaign, Elevation 1907

Richard Pearce, Portsmouth Theatres CEO said: We are especially proud to support VOS and the vital work they carry out for those who have served. Our fundraising through The Proms feels particularly fitting, given its long association with military tradition and remembrance, offering a meaningful way to honour and support the armed forces community.

Through these efforts, we are pleased that the impact will be shared, benefiting both VOS and our own regeneration programme, helping us continue to invest in our community. The generosity and support we receive make it possible for us to give back, and we are grateful to play a role in strengthening these important local connections. As a charitable trust at the heart of our community, we are committed to supporting the people and organisations around us in meaningful ways. Bringing people together is at the core of what we do, creating space, opportunities and connections that help others grow and thrive.

Ian Millen CEO of Veterans Outreach Support added: “Fundraising events like Proms at The Kings are vital in helping us continue our work supporting veterans and their families across the community. The generosity shown through evenings like this makes a real, tangible difference to the lives of those who have served. We are incredibly proud of our ongoing relationship with Portsmouth Theatres, whose commitment to both the arts and the armed forces community is truly inspiring, and we are honoured to be part of such a special event once again.”

Following last year’s hugely successful, sell-out event which received an outstanding audience response and a rousing standing ovation, this year’s Proms promises to be even more memorable, bringing audiences together once again for a true celebration of music, unity, and community spirit.

Director John Bettesworth said: “Proms at The Kings is a truly special night in the theatre’s calendar. Seeing the audience come together in such a powerful celebration of music, pride and community is always incredibly moving. Last year’s event was unforgettable, and I’m delighted to be part of bringing it back again, bigger, better, and just as uplifting for everyone involved.”

The evening will feature a 35-piece orchestra, the Resonate Choir, and a line-up of exceptional soloists performing a thrilling programme of iconic music. Highlights include stirring Proms

favourites such as Land of Hope and Glory, Jerusalem, Rule Britannia! and The White Cliffs of

Dover, alongside timeless classics from some of the world’s most celebrated composers including Andrew Lloyd Webber, Burt Bacharach, and Jerry Herman.

Audiences can also look forward to a joyful selection of music hall favourites and beloved songs from classic musicals, ensuring a rich and varied evening of entertainment.

Fred Dinenage, Patron of The Kings Theatre and Presenter for the evening, said: “Proms at The Kings has quickly become one of the highlights of the theatre’s year. It is a wonderful celebration of music and community spirit, and the atmosphere last year was truly electric. I’m thrilled to be part of it again and to see audiences coming together once more for such a special occasion.”

In true Last Night of the Proms tradition, the concert will culminate in an electrifying atmosphere of audience participation, with Union Jack flags provided to help everyone join in the celebratory spirit.

Join us at The Kings for a night of glorious music, community pride, and celebration as we honour the past and come together in the joy of live performance.
