Metropolitan Police officer sentenced to 25 years behind bars for rape and sexual assault
A Metropolitan Police officer has been sentenced to 25 years behind bars after he was sentenced for multiple counts of rape and sexual assault yesterday (22 June), at Guildford Crown Court.
Dion Arnold, 33 (DOB: 15/3/93), was found guilty of four charges of rape, two charges of assault by penetration and two charges of sexual assault following a seven-week trial in March and April 2026.
Arnold was also ordered to spend an additional eight years on licence.
The offences were committed against four different victims between March 2023 and March 2025.
After the first victim reported Arnold to Surrey Police in March 2025, forensic examination of his mobile phone identified a list of women’s names from which three further victims were identified.
None of the victims were known to each other.
Arnold, who was also an Army reserves medic, used his position of trust to target women, although there is no indication that he met any of the complainants through his roles with the police or the army.
Judge Deborah Charles said that Arnold had a “deep seated need to control women” and that he had shown “deep levels of misogyny”.
She also said that there was “limited evidence” of Arnold showing “real remorse for his actions”.
Detective Inspector Hannah Randall from Surrey Police’s Sexual Offences Investigation Team said: “This has been a complex investigation against a serving police officer.
“I would like to commend the courage and resilience of the four women who gave evidence against Dion Arnold, not only during the police investigation but also during the trial.
“Arnold deliberately targeted women who he believed would not report him to the police for whom he worked. These women believed that they could trust him because he held two positions of trust with respectable professions.
“But Arnold chose to continue sexually assaulting and raping these women.
“It is down to these four women that Dion Arnold been brought to justice for his abhorrent and callous behaviour and crimes.”
- Following a misconduct hearing on 7 May 2026, Dion Arnold was dismissed by the Metropolitan Police.
