Detectives recognised for securing justice for vulnerable children and victims
Two Wiltshire Police detectives have been recognised for their exceptional professionalism, dedication and commitment to safeguarding vulnerable children and supporting victims.
Detective Sergeant Purnell and Detective Constable Poole were recently awarded the Chief Constable’s Certificate of Excellence at the Force Awards held at Wiltshire Police Headquarters in Devizes.
The award recognises their outstanding work over a two-year investigation which resulted in a dangerous offender being convicted of 45 offences, including rape.
Throughout the complex investigation, DS Purnell and DC Poole demonstrated unwavering commitment to ensuring victims were listened to, supported and given the confidence to engage with the criminal justice process. Their meticulous attention to detail, investigative skill and determination were instrumental in achieving a successful outcome at court.
Their work also led to the identification of further victims, strengthening the case and helping to secure justice for those affected.
Working closely with colleagues and partner agencies, they coordinated a collaborative approach throughout the investigation, maintaining a clear focus on the welfare and safeguarding of victims while progressing the case. Their efforts have helped protect vulnerable children and prevent further harm.
DS Purnell and DC Poole received their awards alongside colleagues from across the Force during the Force Awards ceremony, which recognises officers, staff and volunteers who have gone above and beyond in service to the public.
Congratulations to you both on receiving a Chief Constable’s Certificate of Excellence.
