Officers have made four further arrests following a serious assault in Rochdale on Saturday 29 August in which a 13-year-old boy was stabbed. He remains in hospital receiving treatment.

Two teenage boys who were previously arrested have been released on bail, while a further four teenage boys have been arrested on suspicion of assault and possession of a bladed article.

Enquiries remain ongoing.

Restrictions under Section 60 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act have been extended in Rochdale town centre until 3pm tomorrow (Tuesday 1 September 2026).

Detective Superintendent Richard Hunt said: “We continue to make progress on the investigation into this serious attack on a teenage boy in Rochdale.

“Violence on our streets will not be tolerated, and I want to reassure members of the public that we are relentlessly pursuing every lead to bring those responsible to justice.

“We urge anyone who witnessed the incident, was in the town centre at the time, or has any mobile phone, CCTV, or dashcam footage, to come forward and speak to us.”
