Jaiden Hassan-Agard has been found guilty of the manslaughter of Tia Langdon in Southampton.

Jaiden Hassan-Agard, 19, of Stour Close, Southampton, was convicted following a four-week trial at Winchester Crown Court.

Officers were called at 2.43pm on Thursday 28 August 2025 to a block of flats on Cuckmere Lane following reports that Tia had fallen from a balcony.

The court heard that Hassan-Argard had become violent, threatening Tia and a second women in the address after he accused them of stealing drugs from him. He tormented the women, threating them with machetes and broke Tia’s nose. Fearing for her life, Tia attempted to escape off the balcony believing it was her only way out. She sadly died from her injuries the following day.

Having previously denied all charges, Hassan-Agard was yesterday (Tuesday 14 July) found guilty of the manslaughter of Tia Langdon, two counts of false imprisonment, assault occasioning actual bodily harm against Tia Langdon, two counts of threatening a person with an offensive weapon, namely a machete, in a private place, two counts of making threats to kill, and the kidnapping of the second women at the address.

He will be sentenced at Winchester Crown Court on Thursday 22 October.

Following the verdict, Tia’s family said:

“We are happy with this verdict.

“While nothing will ever replace what we have lost, we are glad that justice has been done for Tia.

“Tia was a much-loved daughter, family member and friend. She was kind, caring and brought joy to the lives of so many people who knew her.

“We continue to grieve her loss every day, but her memory will remain with us always.”

Detective Superintendent Andrea Douglas, who led the investigation, said:

“Our thoughts remain with Tia’s family and loved ones, who have suffered an unimaginable loss.

“I would like to praise their courage throughout what has been an incredibly difficult period and while nothing can ease the pain of losing a loved one in such tragic circumstances, I hope this verdict provides them with some comfort in knowing that the person responsible for Tia’s death has been found guilty.

“I would also like to recognise the bravery of the second woman who was at the address during this incident. Coming forward to report what had happened to her and recounting those harrowing experiences before the court took immense strength. The evidence she provided was crucial in helping us build the case against Hassan-Agard and securing these convictions.

“Hassan-Agard will face sentencing, where the court will determine the consequences of his actions.

“This outcome is the result of a thorough and determined investigation, and I would like to thank everyone involved in that process. We remain committed to doing everything we can to bring those responsible for the most serious crimes to justice.”
