A 33-year-old man has been jailed after pleading guilty to multiple drug offences.

The court heard how, between October 2024 and March 2026, Lourenciano Capaingano was arrested on a number of occasions in Southampton and investigated for possession offences relating to significant quantities of crack cocaine and heroin.

Throughout the investigation, officers recovered more than £11,000 worth of Class A drugs, along with cash, multiple mobile phones, cannabis and other items linked to drug supply.

It was revealed in court that Capaingano repeatedly attempted to evade police by providing false details and fleeing from officers – including on one occasion while handcuffed – however, despite his best efforts, pursuits were short and the 33-year-old ended up in custody.  During several of these incidents, he also became violent and assaulted officers.

The investigation culminated in warrant at an address in Tennyson Road, where officers seized more than £9,000 worth of crack cocaine and heroin, along with other drug paraphernalia.

Capaingano, 33, of Tennyson Road, Southampton, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of Class A – crack cocaine, possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of Class A – heroin, possession of criminal property, and assaulting an emergency worker.

Appearing at Southampton Crown Court on Tuesday 17 July, he was sentenced to 4 years and 5 months in prison.

“This sentence is the result of a lengthy investigation involving CID, local Neighbourhood Policing Teams and the Priority Crime Team, all of whom were instrumental in building the case against a man who repeatedly chose to profit from the supply of Class A drugs.

“Crack cocaine and heroin cause immense harm within our communities. The drugs trade is often linked to exploitation, addiction, violence and wider criminality, with those involved seeking to profit from vulnerable people, leaving lasting damage to individuals, families and communities.

“I welcome this sentence, which means, Capaingano, a prolific drug dealer is now behind bars, and a substantial quantity of dangerous drugs has been removed from our streets.

“We remain committed to identifying, disrupting and prosecuting those involved in the supply of illegal drugs.”
