A man who died following a stabbing in Lewisham has been named as Kamahl Cameron-Williams.

Kamahl, aged 31, died at the scene after emergency services responded to reports of a man with knife injuries in Westow Hill, Crystal Palace, at 03:39hrs on Sunday, 21 June.

A post-mortem examination is due to take place on Wednesday, 24 June. Kamahl’s next-of-kin continue to receive support from specialist officers.

A murder investigation was launched following Kamahl’s death and detectives have arrested six people on suspicion of murder since Sunday, 21 June.

A 21-year-old man was arrested on Monday, 22 June and another man, aged 23, was arrested on Tuesday, 23 June. They remain in custody.

The other the four – a 17-year-old boy and three men aged 19, 30 and 45 – also detained on Sunday, have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Lee, who is leading the investigation, said: “Our thoughts remain with Kamahl’s family and friends as they come to terms with this tragic loss.

“There is no place for knife crime on our streets. Our detectives continue to work at pace and remain committed to apprehending those responsible for taking Kamahl away from his loved ones. We have already made significant arrests and are closing in on outstanding suspects. Anyone with information that may assist our investigation is urged to speak to us as a matter of urgency.”

The crime scenes that were in place surrounding Weston Hill have now been lifted, with detectives thanking the community for their patience and perseverance while officers conducted initial enquiries around the area.
