Peppa Pig’s Family Grows in a New Live Adventure at The Kings Theatre Portsmouth

Families across Portsmouth are in for a cheerful treat as Peppa Pig arrives at Kings Theatre Portsmouth with a brand-new live show that feels as warm and familiar as the series itself, and baby Evie joins the family for a new live adventure.

Peppa Pig’s Big Family Show brings Peppa, George, Mummy Pig and Daddy Pig back to the stage, but this time there is something new on the way. As the family gets ready to welcome baby Evie, the story unfolds through the small, recognisable moments that make up everyday family life. Decorating, planning and a little bit of chaos all feature, giving the show a gentle sense of anticipation that parents and children can share.

That feeling carries through the cast too. Emma Hilts and David Tudor, who play Peppa and Daddy Pig, are a couple off stage and have been touring with their young son. For them, the story has taken on a more personal meaning. David describes how becoming a parent has deepened his connection to Daddy Pig, while Emma reflects on how revisiting those early days of family life has made the performance feel especially real.

Charlie Culkin, who plays Mummy Pig, says audiences often recognise those moments straight away. Watching from the stage, she can see parents nodding along as familiar situations unfold, while children are drawn into the world of Peppa and her friends.

The magic of the show lies in its simplicity. The puppetry is open and visible, yet it rarely takes long for young audiences to focus entirely on the characters themselves. As the cast explain, within seconds Peppa and George feel completely real, and the theatre fills with that shared sense of imagination.

There is also a strong sense of playfulness running throughout. The cast work together as an ensemble, sharing puppets and roles, which keeps the performance lively and full of movement. Off stage, that same energy comes through in moments like their unanimous favourite song from the show, “Bubbles,” which they admit always gets everyone smiling.

Set in the heart of Portsmouth, the Kings Theatre provides a fitting backdrop for what, for many children, may be their first experience of live theatre. The show does not try to overwhelm. Instead, it invites audiences in, encouraging them to sing along, join in and feel part of Peppa’s world.

After more than 15 years of live shows, Peppa Pig continues to find new ways to connect with families. This latest visit is less about spectacle and more about shared moments, familiar characters, and the excitement of something new just around the corner.

Peppa and her family are getting ready for a new arrival. Portsmouth audiences are warmly invited to join them for the journey.

The show runs from Weds 3rd – Thursday 4th June
