Registration opens for Wiltshire’s Switch Together scheme
Wiltshire residents who have been thinking about solar can now register for Switch Together, with the annual scheme open until 7 August 2026.
Switch Together, previously known as Solar Together, is a group-buying scheme that helps residents access more competitive prices for solar panels, battery storage and electric vehicle chargers. Once registrations are in, approved installers bid through an auction process, with the best price offered to everyone in the group.
Residents can register for free and receive a personalised recommendation for their property before deciding whether they want to proceed.
More than 2,000 homes in Wiltshire have already had installations through the scheme, which is now in its fifth year and has become a regular opportunity for residents considering solar.
This year, a loan option will also be available to help residents consider the upfront cost of installation.
Since launching in Wiltshire, the scheme has supported installations representing over £17 million of investment, with an estimated 39,926 tonnes reduction in carbon emissions over their 25-year lifetime.
Helping residents to access solar panels and battery storage at competitive prices is one of the ways the council is delivering its priorities in Our Wiltshire Plan, including reducing carbon emissions protecting the environment for future generations.
The scheme is open to homeowners, small and medium-sized businesses, commonhold associations and community organisations across Wiltshire.
Cllr Paul Sample JP, Cabinet Member for Environment and Climate, said: “Switch Together has already supported more than 2,000 installations across Wiltshire and continues to return each year as a well-established scheme for residents considering solar.
“Having used the scheme previously, I’ve seen the difference solar can make to energy bills over time, and being able to track the energy I generate and use through the app has been really useful.
“As registrations open again this year, more residents will have the opportunity to see whether solar panels or battery storage could work for their home.”
Residents can be reassured that registering does not mean there is any obligation to go ahead with the installation, and installers are pre-vetted through the scheme.
