The Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) is proud to highlight its continued support for bereaved naval children through its partnership with Scotty’s Little Soldiers, a leading UK charity dedicated to supporting children and young people who have experienced the death of a parent who served in the Armed Forces.

Scotty’s Little Soldiers provides specialist, long-term support to children and young people aged 0–25, ensuring they are not alone as they navigate the life-changing impact of bereavement. Through tailored programmes offering emotional wellbeing support, respite experiences, educational assistance and peer connection, the charity delivers a vital lifeline to military families across the UK.

RNRMC’s funding specifically supports Scotty’s Little Soldiers’ SUPPORT Programme, which provides vital emotional wellbeing support for bereaved military children and young people. The programme helps them process grief, build resilience, and access consistent, specialist guidance as they adjust to life after the death of a serving Royal Navy or Royal Marines parent.

This support also ensures naval families are included within Scotty’s wider network of care, recognising the unique challenges faced by children from Royal Navy and Royal Marines backgrounds. It helps maintain strong connections to the military community and ensures access to meaningful, long-term support throughout childhood and early adulthood.

Scotty’s Little Soldiers operates a holistic model of care that includes one-to-one bereavement support, group activities and development opportunities designed to build confidence, resilience and community. Its work is centred on reducing isolation and helping young people feel understood and supported at every stage of their journey.

Nikki Scott, Founder of Scotty’s Little Soldiers, said: “We’re so grateful to Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity for their continued support. Their previous grant made such a difference to our SMILES Programme, helping bereaved military children feel less alone and part of a supportive community. Their most recent grant is enabling us to provide vital emotional wellbeing support through our SUPPORT Programme, ensuring children and young people have the guidance they need to navigate life after the death of their Navy or Marine parent. Knowing RNRMC is with us on this journey means so much, and together we’re making a real difference to bereaved military families.”

Scotty’s Little Soldiers, founded in 2010, continues to grow its reach across the UK Armed Forces community, with demand for its services increasing each year. The charity remains committed to ensuring that every bereaved military child has access to the emotional support, development opportunities and sense of belonging they deserve.

Together, RNRMC and Scotty’s Little Soldiers are helping to ensure that naval families are supported not just in moments of crisis, but throughout their journey of grief, recovery and growth.
